I have wanted to do a Frozen themed cake, so I was thrilled when asked. Since it was somewhat short notice, I did it in buttercream due to the fact that I didn't have time to mix up a batch of fondant. But I was thrilled with the simple yet sweet look it turned out with! It is super hard to find small Frozen themed figurines right now, but these
were the perfect size and shipped quite fast!
I loved the idea of using Isomalt to make "ice" structures. I just love the look Isomalt creates for things like ice and glass, even flames, and the nibs are so easy to use! I just used a few into a silicone measuring cup, CakePlay has a great set I love, and melted it in the microwave for a minute or so. Once it is all melted, just add the food coloring, I used Americolor sky blue, then slowly pour it out over a silpat mat, or tinfoil sprayed with Pam. Once it hardens, you can break it into these fun pieces!!
Easy Peasy! Perfect for a little girl!
